New Published Author - Deborah Strickland

4th grade teacher at ACS, Deborah Strickland, recently had her first book published. This is an exciting time for her. Below is some information about the book:

This is the story of a girl in the early 1900s whose life is turned upside down when her mother dies and she is taken in by relatives. The adventure continues as the family moves to the vacant, windswept territory of New Mexico.

Book Description
Mary was five years old when her mother died, leaving her in the care of her aunt and uncle, along with her two-year-old cousin. In 1907, the family decided to leave Kansas and move to the stark and empty territory of New Mexico. Mary wondered what it would be like there. She never expected the harshness of the land, or the difficulties the prairie would present for her and her new family. Along with other settlers in eastern New Mexico, and faced with dangers and hardships, the Jones family became a part of a great adventure on the vast and lonely prairie. Besides stampeding cattle, strange creatures, and the wild western winds, they battled many other obstacles in their fight for survival on the prairie.

Anyone that wants to purchase this book can go to iuniverse.com, do an author search for Deborah Strickland and purchase the book. She also has copies and the book can be purchased from her.

Please celebrate this great event with us at Abilene Christian Schools.
